June 11 - Driving Crazy!

I just want all of you to know who are praying for a safe journey for us - that your prayers are being answered. We've had a few "life passing before our eyes" moments today and a few frayed tempers, but we have survived our first day of driving in Ireland! We have a Ford Focus rental car which is just perfect (I hope it's still in that condition when we return it in a few weeks!). We rented a car from    at Dublin airport. As with all cars in Ireland, the driver is on the right side of the car and drives in the left lane (what?!!). That takes some serious getting used to (see above - "life passing before our eyes" moments). Will is the driver, I'm navigator, and Meghan is "eyes on the road" as well as referee of any disputes. I'm glad to say we've done pretty well today - we haven't killed each other or pushed one of us from the car - - although we have driven the wrong way down a one way street and just missed getting broadsided by two cars at the same time as we pulled out into traffic. We reached Ennis about 3PM - a lovely little town on an island between two rivers. Our hotel is very nice and after walking into town, exploring downtown, and stopping for a pint of Guiness at Broghan's pub, we are making it an early night.

  1. Sounds like an exciting trip! Love to hear the of daily adventures ... keep them coming! I would venture a guess that the pint of Guiness will come in handy each day (maybe more than once!).
